LOVE Pinterest!! I am literally addicted haha So many fantastic ideas for activities and projects in all subject areas. I could spend hours on here just searching through and looking at all of the creative ideas. Great way for teachers to really work towards creating a learning community where we are all working together to share ideas!
ReplyDeleteI feel bad for anyone who got married, had babies or taught before Pinterest existed! It is such a great resource to use for ideas, and the ideas come from parents, teachers and other artists which is great!
ReplyDeleteI remember doing the tissue paper stained glass art in elementary school and I loved it! It's a neat project because it allows for the students to express their individuality in their own piece.
I have just checked out pinterest and was afraid to get into it because of the time it can take! But I agree with all of you - what incredible potential there is here for shared learning among teachers. Some of the favourite projects that I have forgotten how to do can easily be found on Pinterest or YouTube. My only worry with these "found" lessons is that teachers will use them without considering how they contribute to a balanced curriculum - one that addresses PLOs in all organizing areas and has children learn from real arts examples as well as create their own work, with a developing mastery of tools and processes. So, please remember, good "ideas" are not enough - they are a good place to start, though, when you think about how to weave them together into a program that is about enhancing creativity and skills development for children.
